Ethical Statement
At Rewoven Thread Counselling, I am committed to providing ethical, respectful, and transparent care. The forms you will receive to proceed with counselling, outline important information about counselling, confidentiality, and your rights as a client. Please take the time to read these carefully before your first session.
For clients under 18, counselling requires the consent of a parent or guardian. While confidentiality is respected, there are legal and ethical limits when safety concerns arise. My approach balances privacy with parental involvement to ensure safety and support.
Confidentiality is a key part of counselling; however, there are important legal and ethical limits to what can remain private. Information may need to be disclosed if:
There is an immediate risk of harm to yourself or others.
There is disclosure of abuse or neglect involving a minor or vulnerable person.
It is required by a court subpoena or legal obligation.
My role is to support you within these ethical boundaries, ensuring you feel both safe and informed throughout the process.
Adolescent Counselling
For clients under 18, counselling requires signed consent from a parent or legal guardian. Sessions are confidential; however, I encourage open communication with caregivers while protecting the young person’s right to privacy.
In cases where a young person’s safety is at risk, relevant information may need to be shared with parents or authorities to ensure their wellbeing. My approach always prioritises trust, safety, and respect for each young person’s voice and experience.
